Forbes released a list dubbed The Forbes Five earlier this week revealing the wealthiest of Hip-Hop’s moguls.
Diddy, already predicted by the magazine to become the first Hip-Hop artist to become a billionaire, took the top spot on the list with a net worth of $550 million. Helped by his investments in Ciroc, and the Sean John and Enyce clothing lines, the Bad Boy label head is also expected to pull in a considerable amount of money with his forthcoming music channel Revolt.
Jay-Z came in second with an estimated net worth of $460 million. The Roc Nation head sold his Rocawear clothing label back in 2007 for $204 million and his 10-year $150 million deal with Live Nation continues to line his pockets. His investment portfolio also includes stakes in the New Jersey Nets, the 40/40 Club chain, cosmetics company Carol’s Daughter and an ad firm called Translation.
Rounding out the bottom three are Dr. Dre with $270 million, Birdman with $125 million, and 50 Cent who has amassed a $110 million fortune. Most of Dre’s treasure chest was accrued recently due in part to his company, Beats Electronics with Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine. Birdman owes most of his success to his label Cash Money and its subsidiary label Young Money, which collectively feature some of the hottest rap acts in Hip-Hop right now.
